engagement 9.4.10.

This labor day was much different than last. 2009 labor day consisted of dan meeting my family immediately after telling them we were expecting. whew-glad that was last labor day. ;) this labor day was so much fun. my parents were supposed to get here at noon on friday, but seeing is they were flying standby, on a holiday weekend, that didn't happen. they got to dallas airport at 5a.m. on friday and didn't get to denver until 10:20 p.m. they decided to get a hotel for the night and try and catch the first flight to steamboat the next morning. but like the day before, the only two flights here were oversold. so they decided to rent a car and drive.

around 9 that morning, i decided to get in the shower and get ready for the day while the rest of the house was sleeping. while in the shower, little did i know, dan was scurrying around getting things together for "the proposal." he called my dad to ask their blessing. he wanted to do it in person but couldn't wait any longer. as soon as i got out of the shower i realized he was downstairs and i was wondering what he was doing! i walked out of the bedroom (wrapped in a towel and dripping wet hair, i might add) and noticed him looking up at me! i had no idea what he was up to. he was playing a Jamouriqui song "love you forever" but i still didn't notice. he walked up the stairs with a look in his eyes. he grabbed me and said "you know how much i love you?" and i said "yeah, i love you to!" he hugged me and led me to the edge of the landing, that overlooks the living/dining area, and i could tell he was directing me to look at something. i noticed something on the table but couldn't make it out- due to the fact i didn't have my contacts in. i squinted and realized it said, written in pink rose petals, "MARRY ME?" i said "oh my gosh, of course." he then got down on his knee and pulled the ring out of his pocket. i was sooo surprised. it was beautiful. i felt so lucky and happy! after the whirl wind, i noticed an empty box and a dollar bill folded in the shape of ring on the table. he said he was going to joke with me about the empty box promise, like on the movie "Knocked Up." (that movie is a little bit of a joke between the two of us!) After that, my parents made it to town. We all hung out and cooked dinner with all the family and dan and i went out for the night!!! It was our first night out without Beckett. We had so much fun together and we were definitely those "proud parents." showing people pictures of lil' b that had been taken on our phone!! we sure do love that little man and we love our lives together. We can't wait to be married!
