13 months.

beckett is 13 months. i think we are officially calling him a toddler. it just seems weird to refer to him as a "baby." he is on the move and cracks us up everyday. he went from barely walking to almost running. he is so much fun. we feel so blessed to have such a perfect little one. he is the light of our lives and we are just excited about starting this second year with him. he is truly the best thing that has ever happened to us.
after his one year checkup, we were told to see the nutritionist in denver. so this past month uncle zac and we went for his appointment. they put him on the "world curve" and after a 3 day log of his daily food intake and a forty minute appointment, they said he was fine. we were so happy to hear this. they said he was getting the calories he needed and he just is a thin guy. it's probably a good possibility he will be a "late bloomer." i'm trying to not worry anymore, this made me feel so much better, although with how active he is now, he is really not gaining! he does seem to be eating more. which i love. i absolutely love watching him eat and seem to enjoy his food. he is funny. one day he will seem like he loves something and will eat a ton of it and then the next time i prepare the same thing he won't want anything to do with it. let's just say he likes a variety. this past month he has just ate oranges and PB&J like they are going out of style. he just loves them.
this month we had our first major accident. after his bath one night, we walked down to the living room to get his PJ's on and as usual, he was running around naked like a wild man. he tripped over the towel and BAM hit his upper lip on the ottoman. at first, i held him thinking he just bumped his lip. he was crying and i was trying to console him. i then felt something dripping on my shoulder and i looked down to the sight of blood. my stomach dropped. i couldn't believe how bad it was bleeding. it was literally dripping. i felt so horrible that this happened. i tried to look and see where the blood was coming from but he wouldn't let me touch it. i'm sure it was so painful. i felt so helpless. i was trying to dab the blood and put pressure on it, he wasn't having that either. i'm sure he didn't know what was going on, between tasting/seeing blood, and his lip swelling. he kept taking his tongue over the swelling like he was trying to feel it. i felt sooo horrible. he cried for a bit and then he stopped and it finally stopped bleeding. he was over it pretty quick. me on the other hand...not so much. ;)
every night i sit him on the bathroom counter to brush and floss his teeth. he loves it. we started using children's toothpaste and of course that has been a huge hit. he likes to hold the sonicare while it vibrates. i will brush and floss in the meantime and then after we are finished, he puts the electric base in his mouth and feels the vibration. he just smiles.
one sunday fun day, the three of us went down town to stroll around and to split an ice cream cone. oh man, he loved that. we got cookies and cream. he would just take a bite and walk around and then come back and take a bite and then walk around. so proud of himself walking and all. it was really windy that day and we were all ducking our heads with each sand filled gust and he would forcefully shake his head back and forth with his tongue hanging out. dan and i thought, this was probably the first time he had ever felt wind like that. so cool. he loved it.
we have been trying to be outside as much as possible. he just loves being outside.
we are headed to mexico, beckett's first passport stamp, as will it be daddy's.
