so this last month seems like we were busy. we went to his eleven month check up and the dr said she wanted to send us to a nutritionist in denver for failure to thrive. i just bawled in the office thinking why won't he just gain a pound. what am i doing wrong? am i missing something? so when we got home i called the dr in denver and they said it was going to take six weeks to get in. i'm thinking, you tell me my kid is failing to thrive and then send me to someone i have to wait six weeks to get any more advice. so i call his pediatrician and she said it would be fine to wait, she isn't too worried, but just wants to see if there is something she is missing. so we are keeping the appointment on May 24th. i will be sure to let everyone know how it goes. over the past month. he has been eating really good and actually gained almost a pound at his 12 month checkup, when in the past he had barely been gaining half a pound a month. his dr seemed excited about this but still wants us to see the nutritionist. it will be interesting to see what the nutritionist says.
at the end of april, we headed back to tulsa for a wedding in which i was an attendant. on the 27th of april, we drove to denver and stayed the night with my oma the night before the flight. beckett was so overtired and had a really hard time sleeping that night. we pulled him into bed with the two of us and he was just all over the place. we all had a rough night. the next morning we got up and got ready to catch his first flight. considering he didn't get a lot of sleep, he did awesome. then only bad thing that happened the whole day was TSA dropped my computer. i'm still working on getting reimbursed for the $1000.00 worth of damage. never fails. we had such a good time in tulsa, always just running and enjoying family and friends. thursday night we went to dinner with the family, i met one of my closest friend's, valerie, for about a 2.5 hours of much needed girl time, friday i got my hair done and ran all around town and rehearsal dinner (in which we missed the rehearsal completely), oops. saturday was the wedding, i got to the club around 1, to watch the bride get ready and for me to get ready. dan and my grandma brought beckett up to the club around 5:30 to see if he would nurse, NO. he wasn't even interested. so my grandma took him back home. i worried how well he would go to bed without eating, because i knew he wouldn't eat for my grandma. of course he didn't, but he seemed to sleep just fine. i felt so bad for not being there for him but they did great! sunday, we threw him a party. beckett hated his cake, he wanted nothing to do with it. he just cried and cried. we had a lot of good friends and family show up to celebrate. it was so cute. my mom, dad, grandma, brother, sister and jay helped us out to no end with everything we needed for the party. there wouldn't have been a party without them. thank you guys. my parents are just the best parents a kid could ask for. they are such selfless people and give and give and give. i love them. thank you so much. it was such a bummer because my mom had rented a jupiter jump and snow cone machine for the kids and every day we were in tulsa the weather was extremely nice, except for sunday. RAINY and COLD. two things you don't want with a jupiter jump and snow cone machine. boo. i will post some pictures of the party soon. monday, we flew home. we were so tired from the eventful fun weekend but were ready to get home. beckett was so awesome. traveling with him was so easy. once we got on the plane, we tried to ask a man sitting next to us if he would switch with uncle zac and he rudely said "i will not switch for a window seat." i immediately gave beckett permission to cry and be annoying. ha. but of course he wasn't. he pulled at the zipper of my jacket, nursed and went to sleep! dang. i thought, oh ok, this guy must need to get up often on an hour flight. NOPE not one time. he just played solitaire on his phone. guess you can't do that in a window seat. people can be so self-indulged. uggh.
we got back on our regular schedule and friday was beckett's actual birthday. i made him another little cake thinking he would be into it since it was pretty low key. no. again, he wanted nothing to do with it. well, i'm sure he will next year!
i feel like i say it all the time but he is constantly doing something new! it seems like everyday. he has changed so much this past month. he is just so funny. so many things are coming to an end and it makes me so sad but so excited for him getting bigger. i put away all of his baby toys, bottles, pacifiers, and sterilizer away. i cleaned the breast pump, and packed it up. we haven't used any of it in a while now. so i figured it is time. it was so bittersweet. he is only nursing twice a day, morning and night. although we aren't trying to count it as actual nutrition, just liquids. he won't take a bottle anymore, he just drinks out of a cup with a straw. such a big boy. we tried cow's milk on his birthday. he seems to like it. we have started flossing his two teeth regularly, start them young. he loves the taste of the floss and he loves his toothbrush. he cracks me up, once he gets down from his high chair, he will walk all around the table taking bites on each round, mumbling and humming in between. we are always able to get more food in him this way. he absolutely loves to wrestle, climb little obstacles, sing, and try and scare you. for his birthday we bought him a tube that he can crawl through has a tent attached at both ends, he enjoys that. we also opened him a savings account from a few checks he got as gifts and some money we added. we got a long way to go, if we want to pay for what they estimate his college will cost in 2028, $250,00.00. he might be on his own for most of that. unless he gets scholarships. we are starting. but he can do what he wants. he might not even want to go, we will see!

- how he stood up all by himself and walked behind his train on april 14th
- how he was standing a really long time on april 8th
- how he got out of his sleep blanket on april 9th
- how he took his first one step on may 3rd

- how he loves trying to do a somersault
- how he likes to touch my toenail polish
- how he stood under the glass table top and mimicked my cleaning it
- how he has been pointing to things
- how he just acts like he is carrying a conversation with me
- how on his first flight he was so amazing, touched everything, and never cried
- how on the flight home he nursed and fell right to sleep
- how he loves to pull out wipes and open and close the container
- how he is trying to put lids on things correctly
- how dan said one night he would go up one stair and then scoot down to be sure he could get down and then go up two and scoot down and so forth
- how he has started to want privacy while doing the #2
- how he sits on his knees and dances
- how he just sits in a real deep squat with his bottom just above the floor
- how any time he belches or passes gas, he laughs
- how he loves to give high 5's

- how he holds his pacifier in his mouth but tilts it into a "u" shape
- he will just lay his head down in the middle of playing and "rest" for about, 2 seconds and then go right back at it
- how he likes to eat on the move, he will walk around/under the table over and over, and in between takes bites (although, for the most part, we like him to be in his chair, sometimes we are able to get a few extra bites in him and we figure hey whatever helps)
- how i can tell he is trying to sing. it sounds so different than his speaking voice. it is real soft and drawn out like he is trying to sound like the music
- how he still loves to read all the time and how he likes to tell the story, he also turns the book right side up
- how one night before bath time, he was trying to pull his shirt straight out to see the little monkey on it. he kept losing his balance but would stand back up and pull it out to see it again
