five months.

Another month has flown by and Beckett is now 5 months. he is just getting so big. he is accomplishing so many things. he is eating some solid foods. from day one, he acted like he had always been eating from a spoon. no problem for him. i'm not giving them to him very often. just every now and then to try and get his system used to it! he seems to get a little stopped up if we feed him too much. we bought the beaba baby food maker from williams sonoma. (click here to see BEABA) it is absolutely amazing!!! we love it. although, right after it came to the house, i was reading online and got pulled into a forum about the plastics it is composed of. i started to get a little sketched out because they were saying the plastics had leeching potential. i thought to myself, "here i am trying to provide preservative free, organic food and now i have to worry about the plastic." but the more i read, the more i realized those were old forums and that they have since changed the plastic to BPA-free. so i decided to let that worry go!!! As far as what he has tried for food:
Apples, Bananas, Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, and Brown Rice Cereal (all organic). he seems to love the carrots the most. he says "mmm" as he puts them in his mouth!! ;) it's so funny how he will grab the spoon and try and feed himself!

he is trying to sit on his own. he can do it for just a little bit and then he falls over. i think it is so cute that he is so proud of himself when he does it.
i was looking at old photos and really noticed how much Beckett has changed. with this, i know how important it is to capture all these moments because they change so quickly!

(by the way, i actually knitted the hat!! finally! i've been wanting to do this forever. i guess you can say my son inspires me to do things that i've always wanted)

so, i started a photography workshop on monday, thanks to the referral from my friend Jenny Collier. it is six weeks long and offered through megan papworth. i'm really excited and for those who don't know...this has become my new found passion. although it isn't a new one. i'm just actually trying to do something about it!!! so hopefully, the photos will be improving!!

What we are reading:
Nighttime-
  • "Goodnight Moon"
  • "I love you, Goodnight"
  • "Spot says, Goodnight"
  • "The Going to Bed Book"
  • "I Love You Forever"
Daytime-
  • "One Sneaky Sheep"
  • "B is for Bear"
  • "Dr. Seuss Pops Up"
  • "The Tale of Peter Rabbit-A Pop Up Adventure"
  • "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs"

(just to name a few. hehe)

What we are singing:
  • "B-E-C-K-E-T-T, beckett, beckett. B-R-I-N-D-L-E, oh beckett brindle." growing up my next door neighbors, Cathy and Steve Bolinger were like second parents to me! they used to sing a song like this to me, so i thought what the heck!
  • we have made up a song for the bathtub. i'm still trying to tweak it a little. dan says it isn't very creative. "beckett brindle in the bath-tub. he likes to go rub-a-dub-a-dub-dub. he doesn't like to be ornery or mean, he just likes to get, oh so clean."
  • whatever song is playing
  • A,B,C's

5 month Stats

length-almost 25 inches
"my oh my, look at those frog-eyes"
i'm gonna eat them
or just chill here.

professional stander
i get so tired of that camera
so i won't look at it
yeah yeah

i hate this pose
seriously, i really do
things i don't want to forget:
  • how he is always grabbing his toes and putting them in his mouth (it's funny in the tub or after lotion he slips all over)
  • how he started eating organic brown rice cereal after his 4 month check up and he acted like he had always been eating from a spoon.
  • how observant he is. every time i take a drink of water he wants to take a drink and tries to pull the glass to his mouth
  • how he can take over my whole side of the bed
  • eating carrots for the first time on September 17, 2010
  • how he has started mimicking mom and dad
  • how he sighs when he talks
  • how i made him some organic apples and organic carrots. he liked the carrots better
  • how he pushes his tongue out.
  • how i can hold him with one hand on my hip. he's pretty much sturdy enough
  • how he just splashes and makes a mess with the water in the bathtub
  • how he sucks the water out of the washcloth
  • how i bought him 3-6 month winter clothes and they are all still too big. he's just a little guy
  • on sunday morning oct. 3, he let me rock him without being swaddled and he laid his head on my shoulder and just relaxed. he felt so big
  • how he got his first cold on October 1. dan was sick, then me, and then he got it (but he just went on like nothing was even wrong) he slept with us in the co-sleeper for a couple nights because he would have coughing fits and vomit. we wanted to be sure we were close by if he needed us
  • he ate bananas for the first time on Oct 1. he loved them.
  • how i tried to put him down for a nap without being swaddled and he just wants to eat his toes and not sleep; so we are still swaddling
  • i got a text message from dan, while i was at work, that said 'Holy Crap, he just had the biggest poop ever!!" i thought it was so funny
  • how much he laughs in the bath tub
  • biting his pacifier real hard, while pulling it out and then laughing, over and over!
  • how i sit him on my hip and we dance
Mommy loves you Beckett, to the moon and back!
